For more than 65 years, EMSA has been committed to leading-edge brand quality with a responsibility for mankind and his environment. Sustainability is at the core of our actions and also defines the entire value chain  – starting with the use of raw materials, to the deployment of energy-efficient production facilities, to the very strictest quality controls.

Germany as a location also plays a very important role in this: More than 400 employees work here every day in a world full of good ideas "made in Germany".  More than 750 employees contribute to these ideas all over the world.

Since 2016, EMSA belongs to the French corporate group Groupe SEB,which is active in nearly 150 countries with brands such as Krups, Rowenta and Tefal as a global reference for electrical appliances – with worldwide more than 26,000 employees.

  • 1949

    Franz Wulf establishes the Franz Wulf & Co. plastic product factory.

  • 1953

    The legendary butterfly on the coffee-pot drip catcher was the company's first successful product.

  • 1956

    The business grows: and moves to Emsdetten, where the very first plant-care articles were produced.

  • 1958

    "EMSA Plastic" becomes a registered trademark.

  • 1960

    The first EMSA tableware series: The two-colour design was entirely in touch with the trend of that period.

  • 1971

    The red spot becomes the final corporate logo.

  • 1982

    "Press - Twist - Seal!" – The patented Thermomatic closure system is a true innovation in the vacuum jug sector.

  • 1995

    The next generation of EMSA classics: Quick-Tip jugs for single-handed operation.

  • 2004

    The innovative storage container CLIP&CLOSE takes the market by storm.

  • 2008

    "My World. My Home." The new brand claim embodies the overall EMSA philosophy: Whether at home, in the garden or on the go – EMSA offers a world full of good ideas "made in Germany" and combines indoor and outdoor lifestyles.

    The new brand ESTERAS by EMSA extends the garden range with handmade planters and fountains made of innovative fibre-glass material.

  • 2009

    EMSA celebrates its 60th anniversary – at the very same time as the Federal Republic of Germany.

  • 2011

    Further investments in the location Germany: A new assembly line is created –for the new generation CLIP & CLOSE food storage containers.

  • 2012

    EMSA receives the "Emsdetten Business Award 2012" and becomes the "Ambassador for the business location Emsdetten".

  • 2013

    Christian Rach and EMSA launch the Mission Freshness: Those who keep food fresh right throw less away! And the CLIP & CLOSE food storage containers help you do that. Thanks to the unique freshness seal, food stays fresh longer – scientifically proven.

  • 2014

    EMSA wins the 5th award of the Marketing-Club Münster/Osnabrück – for its holistic marketing approach as well as the successful "Mission Freshness" campaign.

    Idea management and true innovations "made in Emsdetten" pay off: EMSA is awarded the "Top 100" seal and now belongs to the top innovators among German SMEs.

  • 2015

    For the second time now, EMSA has again been awarded the "Top 100" seal, and thus continues to belong to the top innovators among German SMEs.

  • 2016

    This is the third time in a row that EMSA has been rated among the top most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany and won the "Top 100" seal.

    EMSA is a part of the global corporate group Groupe SEB since May of 2016.
