The eagerly awaited summer season beckons with all those lovely things we missed so in the cold autumn and winter months: early sunrises and late sunsets, warm evenings, fresh fruit, walking barefoot and wearing airy clothes instead of hats, scarves and gloves. It’s a long list, but it’s easy to sum up in a nutshell: the warm, sunny days simply put us in a good mood – and as the temperatures rise, our appetite for refreshments of all different varieties grows, too. So, what's the flavour of this summer? Cool, of course!
One of the good reasons to love summer? Ice cream! In a perfect world, we’d eat it morning, noon and night. Well, if only it weren't for those pesky calories that just love to get settled on our hips. But not to worry: there’s another great alternative to ice creams made with milk and cream, and it's called sorbet – the lighter choice for those hot summer months, preferably made with seasonal fruits.
Our appetite for warm food is often limited when the temperatures hit the 30-degree mark, but our thirst for cold drinks grows more than ever. That’s not much of a surprise: drinking is important, particularly at this time of year.
Even though it’s summer, you obviously still have to eat! But light foods are better than heavy meals at this time of year. Vitamin-rich summer salads with crunchy vegetables and fruit are the perfect choice. You can easily prepare a tomato or melon and feta salad for a day in the office or at uni, and with the CLIP & GO range from EMSA, these dishes are easy to carry around and eat on the go.
In need of refreshment? Stay cool! EMSA wishes you a cool-hot summer!
